I know… you’re sick and tired of struggling with social anxiety (or any other form of anxiety) and you want to get rid of it as fast as possible. Even though it will take some time to ease your anxiety, I read 3 very powerful books on easing my anxiety. It were the books that helped me with overcoming anxiety quite fast and I think now is the time to share them with you.
1. Untangle your Anxiety (From Joshua Fletcher and Dean Scott)
This was perhaps the most important book I read on overcoming anxiety. This short book is your go-to guide if your want to learn more about what anxiety is, why it happens and understand how to prevent it from happening in the future. In just 180 pages this book explains in depth what you have to do when you feel anxious and is therefore a MUST-read book for anyone struggling with social anxiety.
2. Anxiety: Panicking about Panic (From Joshua Fletcher)
The second book I highly recommend about overcoming social anxiety and a panic disorder is the second book I recommend from author Joshua Fletcher. In this book, Joshua gives you many tools to work with your anxiety. It’s all about learning to perceive your anxiety in a better way: not as dangerous, but with forgiveness and compassion. With only 146 pages this book will help you in a fast and easy to understand way how to ease your social anxiety.
3. Unwinding your Anxiety (From Judson Brewer)
This is probably the last book you want to read on the topic of anxiety. Not because it is a bad book (not at all!), but because it is the most scientific, which makes it sometimes hard to read if you struggle with anxiety and often a lack of concentration. Even tough the first two books on the topic will send you far into the right direction, this book will help you get a better “scientific” understanding of what is happening in your brain.
Why does my anxiety happen? What happens in my brain? And how do I undo this anxiety process? Judson Brewer talks about the power of “anxiety habits” and how to swap those unhealthy habits of anxiety (and worry) with more rewarding ones. This is definitely a more advanced book than the first two, but definitely worth the read!
